While Caleb and I were in Victoria BC this year we found these amazing dried figs by a company called Organic Superfoods. Before then, we had both never tried figs and became instantly hooked. Now here in California, it’s hot! That means an abundance of fresh organic fruits to choose from including, you guessed it – fresh organic figs. But what to do with fresh figs? They are beautiful, but you can’t really let them lay around for too long before going wrinkly. Knowing this and being in a hurry to use them, I threw together this salad that also includes some left over crumble from my 10 Minute Raw Peach Cobbler recipe.
Ingredients:
2-3 Cups of Spring Mix Salad or other greens
3-4 Fresh Figs, Sliced into fours
1/4 Cup Blueberries
2-3 Dates, chopped
3-4 Sprigs of Mint*optional
1-2 tbsp. Crumble
2 tbsp of Oil Free Balsamic Dressing
Instructions: Toss all ingredients together in a bowl, drizzle on your balsamic and serve.

This looks sooo good. I have been on the lookout for figs, but I think it is still early for them here in PA. I grew up eating figs- every Italian I know has a fig tree growing in a wheel barrel in the backyard. When it is too cold they wheel it into a shed or garage.
Where In Victoria did you find dried figs? I’m looking to find some for part of a cheese plate.
hi Nicolle! We Actually got them in the raw section at Lifestyles Market, I believe they were by Organic Superfoods – in a nice package, not in bulk. Absolutely the most amazing dried figs ever! If you can get fresh ones though, this salad is divine! ~Hugs
Too bad I didn’t see this recipe a week or two earlier; we had fresh figs here then… But even with (soaked) dried figs, this recipe was delicious. I’ll stow it away for next year.
