Strawberry Spinach Green Smoothie

Green Smoothies are a big part of our lives,  we make them every morning after we have a few glasses of water. If you want to improve your health, lose weight, tone up, clear your skin or have more energy with one simple tweak to your lifestyle – choose green smoothies.  We make a big Vitamix full at least once a day, and store the left over smoothie in sealed jars so we can reach in the fridge and grab them in between meals. You can store them for up to 2 days, but ours never last more then a day before we finish them off.

Green smoothies are fast, packed with nutrition and easy for the body to assimilate. We usually do about 40% fruits to 60% greens in our smoothies. Fruits= Carbohydrates are what the body and brain runs on. Fructose, is the most efficient energy source for the body. Greens, like fruit, are also packed with Vitamins, minerals and have phyto-nutrients that protect your body from simple stuff like the cold & flu, and more extreme stuff like dis-ease and cancer.

I’m really digging this smoothie combo, give it a try and see for yourself. The greens don’t overpower the taste of the strawberry at all, but if you’re really new to green smoothies and want to ease your way in, leave out the sprouts but keep the spinach!

Ingredients:

2-3 Frozen Ripe Bananas
1 Cup Fresh Cut Strawberries
4 Cups Fresh Spinach
1/2 Cup Pea Sprouts
Water

Directions: Put ingredients in the Vitamix, add water and blend. The amount of liquid you use will depend on your desired consistency.

Enjoy!
