Upgrade Your Health by Adding these 4 Foods into Your Day

4 foods

These are the foods to add in to your daily diet and eat in abundance.  Rather than relying on meat, dairy, and refined grains as standard go-to foods, make it a habit to use veggies, leafy greens, seaweeds and superfoods as a base.  These are extraordinary plants with transformational properties to shift you into true vitality.

1. Vegetables

Veggies are the base line for radiance.  5 serves a day has always been the recommended minimum, but now new dietary guidelines have upgraded that to 9! The old-school way is to choose meat and 3 veg, whereas the new wave food craze has vegetables starring in the lead role at meal times.  And rightly so…

Eating more fresh organic vegetables is the easiest way to give your body a big hit of nutrition and amp up your energy.  Dr. Mercola says certain vegetables “reduce bloating, give your skin a youthful glow and improve how you handle stress”.  They help stem free radical damage, fight disease, change cells and keep you young!  By eating large amount of fruits and vegetables, our bodies are physically transformed.

There are a gazillion ways to add those 9 serves into your day.  Drinking them, eating a green salad (or 2!) daily, and up-sizing the amount of veggies in meals.

2. Leafy Greens

Popeye knew his stuff – greens are fold.  Fresh is best, not from a can!  They place no digestive stress on the body, are very alkaline, clean up your body and keep sugar levels balanced (no spike).  Green leafy vegetables are the best source of alkaline minerals, are full of fibre and a high source of chlorophyll.  Chlorophyll is close to a direct match to our red blood cells.  Once ingested, it starts to recreate our blood.  This gives our energy levels a big boost.  There is only goodness to be found in greens.  Put them in a juice, smoothie, salad at lunch, or add spinach at brekky.  I’m always looking for ways I can sneak in my greens!  Adding them in can make profound changes.

Be sure to rotate green leafies every few days to ensure best absorption.  Your body stops responding to kale if you eat if every. single. day.  It thrives on variety.  Switch it up with beet leaves, cos, spinach, watercress for dandelion greens for a better hit.

3.  Seaweeds

Everybody should eat seaweeds.  They carry a whole lot of pure life-force drawn from the sun and ocean.  Seaweeds create 70% of the world’s oxygen, contain huge quantities of minerals (all assimilated into the body easily), and are a high protein substance.

Minerals are essential in the quest for optimum health!  We need them to function efficiently.  Minerals, together with vitamins and a high raw food diet, can literally transform the structure of the skin and hair cells, increasing structural integrity, elasticity and tensile strength.  Seaweeds are an excellent source of minerals.

They also have really crucial anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-microbial compounds, and are a wild food.  (Who doesn’t want wild? Am I right?)  Wild foods are the best type of foods as they have grown completely free of any interference and deliver that pure goodness directly to our bodies.

Snack on nori (a great brain food), dulse, Irish moss (which contains over 80 different minerals and has a gelling compound that soothes the digestive tract), and wakame for super health.  I generally sprinkle 1-2 teaspoons of dulse and nori on my salad or soup daily for a massive hit of minerals for very little work.

4.  Superfoods

There certainly is a load of propaganda around what is or isn’t a ‘superfood’.  Speculation abounds as to whether they meet the hype or are just another marketing ploy.

To unmask this obscured area, let me explain.  A superfood is, in fact, the most nutritionally dense quality of food in the smallest amount of quantity.  Superfoods go beyond being nutritionally dense; they help remineralise our tissues and immediately nourish our bodies.  With time, superfoods correct imbalances in our bodies and assist us to move toward homeostasis. Believe me, this is a desired zone, where our system is balanced.  Consuming these powerful foods primes our bodies for health my easing our efforts to detoxify, achieve our ideal weight, and transition to more healthful diet and food habits.

Superfoods can help us to maintain a healthy weight, get all the protein we could ever need, improve our immune system and nutritionally saturate our bodies with super nutrients. So, are they worthy of the hype? Yes!
